Add Video to a Cosmetics Product Catalog

Cosmetics and personal care brands use printed product catalogs and dealer brochures heavily with distributors, pharmacies, hair and beauty salons and at points of sale. Adding video to the product photos lets you show how each product is applied, what it contains and the results, right from the same page.

How does it work?

The customer opens the QR code in the catalog once with their phone camera and allows camera access. They then point the phone at any product photo; the phone recognises it and plays the video linked to that product. No app is needed. A single QR code covers dozens of products, so your page design stays clean.

Which videos can you add?

  • Application: how much of the product to use and in what order.
  • Ingredients and effect: key ingredients and what the product does.
  • Before and after: the results expected with regular use.
  • Point-of-sale training: short product introductions for pharmacy, salon and store staff.

Step by step

  1. Check the photos: Packaging within the same range can look very similar. Check the photos with the free image test before printing; printing the product name near the photo makes them easier to tell apart.
  2. Prepare the videos: 30–60 second application videos shot in portrait work best on phones.
  3. Match them in the panel: Upload a video for each product photo or add a Drive or Dropbox link.
  4. Add the QR code to the print: Put the QR code with a short prompt on the cover and the range pages.

The same QR code works on product boxes

You can print the QR code from your catalog on product boxes and shelf displays as well. Whichever box the customer points their phone at, that product's video opens; you don't need to manage a separate code or link for each product.

For new products and campaigns

When a new product joins the range or a campaign changes, you only update the video in the panel; the catalog isn't reprinted. In the panel you track how many times each product was viewed and in which cities it drew interest.

Letting customers reach you

When the video ends, “Ask on WhatsApp” and “Call” buttons can appear. The message includes which product it came from, so point-of-sale and order questions reach you directly.
