How to Add Video to a Furniture Catalog: Show Products Assembled
Link assembly, mechanism and colour option videos to the product photos in your printed furniture catalog. One QR code, no app, step-by-step guide.
Furniture companies use printed catalogs heavily in showrooms, across their dealer network, in meetings with architects and interior designers, and at trade fairs. Adding video to the product photos lets you show a sofa bed's mechanism, how a modular wardrobe is assembled or the fabric and colour options, right from the same page.
How does it work?
The customer opens the QR code in the catalog once with their phone camera and allows camera access. They then point the phone at any product photo; the phone recognises it and plays the video linked to that product. No app is needed. A single QR code covers every product in the catalog, so your page design stays clean.
Which videos can you add?
- The product set up in a room: shots from different angles that give a sense of scale.
- Mechanisms: sofa beds, extending tables, drawer and door systems.
- Colour and fabric options: every variation of a product shown with a single photo in the catalog.
- Assembly: step-by-step instructions for dealers, installers and end users.
Step by step
- Check the photos: So that photos of similar products don't get mixed up, use the free image test before printing. Placing the product name and dimensions near the photo also helps tell them apart.
- Prepare the videos: 30–90 second videos shot in portrait work best on phones.
- Match them in the panel: Upload a video for each product photo or add a Drive or Dropbox link.
- Add the QR code to the print: Put the QR code with a short prompt on the cover or the contents page.
When a new colour or model is added
When a new colour joins the collection or a product is updated, you only change the video in the panel. The catalog isn't reprinted, and the catalogs you sent to dealers and architects stay current.
For dealers and architects
A catalog sent to a dealer presents your products on its own, without needing a sales consultant. Architects and interior designers can examine product details from the catalog. In the panel you track how many times each product was viewed and in which cities it drew interest.
Letting customers reach you
When the video ends, “Ask on WhatsApp” and “Call” buttons can appear. The message includes which product it came from, so colour, size or price questions reach you directly.
