Video Business Card: How to Add a Video to Your Printed Card
Add an intro video to your business card: people point their phone at the card, the video plays, then they reach you on WhatsApp or by phone. Design tips and step-by-step setup.
A business card is often the only thing left in someone's hand after a meeting. But it only carries a name, a title and a phone number; it says nothing about you, your work or your product. A video business card removes that limit: when someone points their phone at the card, the video you prepared plays.
How does a video business card work?
The image on the card (your photo, your product or the card design itself) is recognized by the phone camera and plays the video you linked to it. The person holding the card:
- Scans the QR code on the back of the card with their phone camera.
- Allows camera access on the page that opens in the browser.
- Points the camera at the front of the card, and the video plays right away.
No app to download; it works in the browser on iPhone and Android. When the video ends, “Ask on WhatsApp” and “Call” buttons appear, so the viewer can reach you with one tap. All you need to do is enter your phone number in your account settings.
What should the video show?
- A short introduction: 15–30 seconds on who you are and what you do. It works like a continuation of the meeting.
- Your product or service: how the product is used, or short shots from your workshop, shop or site.
- Portfolio: for architects, photographers, designers and craftspeople, a short reel of finished work.
- Real estate and sales consultants: a featured listing or a company film.
You can change the video at any time, so it stays up to date without reprinting your cards.
Card design tips
The phone recognizes the card by the visual detail on it, so the design directly affects recognition:
- Choose a detailed side: a minimal side with only a logo on a flat background is hard to recognize. A side with a photo, a pattern or a textured background works much better.
- Prefer a matte finish: gloss lamination and foil reflect light and make recognition harder.
- Keep the contrast: use clear, high-contrast images rather than very light, very dark or washed-out designs.
- Put the QR code on the back: the front stays the image to be recognized; the QR code only opens the page.
Tip: before printing, run your card design through the free image test. It estimates how easily the phone will recognize the image. For more advice, see the print image checklist.
Step-by-step setup
- Create an account. You can start with the free plan made for single prints: 3 items, 200 scans every 30 days, videos up to 30 seconds and no time limit.
- Upload the front of the card. The image from the print file or a photo of the printed card is enough.
- Add your video. Upload it as a file or paste a Google Drive / Dropbox link.
- Turn on the contact buttons. Enter your WhatsApp and phone number in your account settings.
- Download the QR code and add it to the print. In the dashboard you can design it in your brand color, with your logo.
- Test it on your phone. Scan a test print of the card or the image on your screen.
FAQ
Can I make cards for my whole team?
Yes. If each employee's card carries a different image, each one plays its own video. As the number of cards grows, paid plans raise the item limit.
Can I see how many people scanned the card?
Yes. All scans are reported in the dashboard, along with how often the contact buttons were tapped.
Do I need to reprint my existing cards?
If your card has no QR code, yes: you need to add one, at the latest in your next print run. If the card image is already detailed, the design itself can stay.
